The Kitchen Project Brief

The client had purchased the 1960s dated side split and they wanted us to design and build a modern open concept design. In order to carry out this kitchen renovation project, we needed to fully gut the space. We removed the load-bearing wall so that we could create a beautiful open concept design.

Once we had the open space, we added lots of touches to this kitchen renovation project to bring the kitchen up-to-date and have an elegant, luxurious design. We installed a gourmet-style two-tone shaker door kitchen that included a very large island. Shaker kitchens are based on an orderly and uncluttered approach. They work in contemporary, modern kitchen settings very well.

We also installed engineered hardwood floors throughout. Hardwood flooring adds warmth and comfort to a home. This is important when creating such a modern kitchen. It is still important to retain that homely feel, which is what the hardwood floors achieved. They are also very practical as well. The kitchen is a room whereby the floor can get dirty very quickly and very easily. Engineered hardwood floors are easy to clean and low maintenance. They are also cost-effective, long-lasting, durable, strong, and they add value to any property. It’s not hard to see why they were the obvious choice for this Grimsby Ontario kitchen renovation project.

In addition to the hardwood flooring, we installed MSI Quartz countertops. So, why did we go for quartz? Quartz is a manufactured product, which comes in many different colors and designs, enabling us to find the perfect countertops for this kitchen redesign. As you can see from the photos, it has a very luxurious and rich finish.

Not only do these countertops look amazing but they provide the same level of durability as granite and concrete. However, they can be more forgiving. This means they are not going to crack and chip easily. It does not have the same hard feel that a lot of people do not enjoy.

Always Add Storage Space

Aside from this, we also installed an over the island range hood fan, and glass display cabinets with interior lighting. We also upgraded all the electrical and installed pot lights throughout, as well as installing stunning under the cabinet lighting. We increased the storage space on the back of the island as well.

Storage space is something that can be incredibly difficult to come by in any home, especially in the kitchen when they are so many different items that need to be stored. It was always our aim to increase the storage space but to do this in a clever way so that the kitchen would be fully functional and be easy, making the kitchen as fun and enjoyable as possible.
