Bathroom Renovation Project $35,000-$40,000

In this article we are going to take you Inside a Professional Bathroom Renovation Project from start to finish. This bathroom renovation project was completed recently in Hannon, Ontario.

The Project Brief

The project brief for this en-suite renovation project was a total renovation/re-fit. To achieve this, the clients required us to demolish the existing en-suite entirely. We were then required to upgrade dated aspects of the room as it stood, including –

  • Electrical wiring
  • Plumbing set up
  • Insulation that was no longer regulation standard.
  • Complete layout change incorporating a stand alone tub
  • Price range: $35,000 0- $40,000
  • Project Duration 3 weeks
  • Location: Hannon, Ontario  (Hamilton area) [gmap-embed id=”1361″]

As bathroom renovations projects go, it doesn’t get much more complete than this. And yet, we ended up with a delighted customer on our hands. Here’s how we did it.

En-suite bathrooms are as important as any other room. These are a vital feature of your bedroom, after all, and one of the first places you see when you wake up daily. While guests and family members might not traipse in and out of here as often as other areas, you’ll be spending plenty of time here. As such, an imperfect or poorly designed en-suite is still very much in need of renovation.

Our customers in Hannon, Ontario, and surrounding areas understood that when they contacted us to carry out a complete bathroom renovation on their dated and ill-fitting en-suite. To prove how much a project like this can change the feel of your home, consider how we helped our Hamilton Ontario clients fall back in love with their bathroom.

Laying The Foundations For En-suite Project Success

To meet this extensive brief, we returned to the client’s needs time and again throughout the project. We especially focused on laying the right bathroom foundations in the initial aftermath of the demolition.

First, we focused on the electrical requirements of the room. Getting electricity right in any bathroom setting is vital for both the perfect appearance, function and client safety. As such, we turned our attention to upgrading and repairing the electrics already in place to meet with the client’s new and updated en-suite layout.

Then, we turned this same level of attention to the insulation. No one wants a cold bathroom, after all, and code-standard insulation is an absolute must in any modern building undertaking. We used our knowledge and expertise to guarantee that the insulation was up to today’s building code and that the building envelope was properly reinstalled before closing the walls.

Lastly, we updated the plumbing itself. As with everything else, plumbing and the regulations surrounding it change over time, and many old bathroom

m makes, and fixture models are no longer in keeping with modern standards. This was very much the case in our Hamilton Ontario project. As such, our team dedicated themselves to relocating existing plumbing so that we were able to install the equipment our clients desired for their newly imagined room.

Products For The Perfect En-suite

Once we had laid the foundations for the en-suite of our client’s dreams, we turned our attention to the products that would really bring the space to life. Getting the plumbing, electricals and insulation right is, of course, a vital aspect of any bathroom renovation, but these are invisible features of the room. By comparison, products like the shower, in particular, form a focal point that needs attention.

The Shower

Firstly, we tackled the shower enclosure. This is the prime focus of the bathroom renovation project, as well as receiving daily use. As such, getting it right is fundamental for bringing the space together. For ease and neatness, we first installed large format tiles. By reducing the need for grout lines, these add a crisp, clean look to any bathroom space, and this en-suite was no exception.

With those stylish tiles in place, we set about installing the shower enclosure itself. Knowing that the clients en-suite shower will be used regularly, waterproofing ahead of time is an absolute must. We achieved just that with a completely waterproof and mold resistant Wedi shower system kit. We then added style to the enclosure by incorporating a ceiling-mounted Riobel Momenti rain head shower and a water tight Wedi shower niche. These provided the perfect mix of practicality and class, to meet with our client’s brief of a modernized, usable en-suite.

The Rest Of The Room

Of course, it’s the details that count in a bathroom renovation project like this. Something as simple as a mirror in the wrong place can throw the entire room, and that’s not a risk we’re willing to take with our bathroom renovations.

Paint color does, of course, matter a great deal to design, and we used an award-winning cool gray tone to get this just right. Benjamin Moore’s Color of the year 2019 Metropolitan AF-690 is a definite go-to at the moment, and it worked wonders for lighting this en-suite.

Once we had color in the bag, we took care of the small details that matter so much to the overall appearance. Comfort is a key priority, especially in an en-suite that doesn’t have room for a bath. To meet this need, we installed large shower bench seating with an exposed side. Without taking too much space, this is a classy way to compromise without losing comfort.

To finish things off, we installed a Stone Wood double sink vanity with an integrated linen tower. A natural wood finish is a fantastic way to compliment any room, and this vanity, in particular, was the ideal tone to match that cool gray paint. While large enough to become a prominent feature, a vanity like this contributes a great deal of storage to limited en-suite space, making it a top option in a bathroom renovation like this.

Altogether, this Bocelli Crescent, Hannon Ontario en-suite bathroom renovation project took three weeks to complete. That includes a total demolition and rebuilding of the room, as well as the wiring and insulation necessary to provide a space that stands the test of time.
